Stardew Valley 1.7 Update: New Marriage Candidates & Confirmed Details

Stardew Valley 1.7 is real — ConcernedApe announced it officially and has been drip-feeding details ever since. This is the living tracker: what’s confirmed, what’s rumored, and where the actual sources are. Nothing on this page is speculation without an attribution.

What has been officially confirmed?

  • The update exists — announced on stage at the Symphony of Seasons concert on August 30, 2025, with “no release date, no estimate”
  • More character/social content + a new farm type — teased in a December 17, 2025 post (“it’s also traditional to add a new farm type”)
  • Two new marriage candidates: Clint and Sandy — revealed during the 10th-anniversary celebrations in February 2026
  • A developer team is on it — ConcernedApe described a “creative director” role this time while he keeps focus on Haunted Chocolatier

That’s the entire official floor. Everything else is conjecture, datamine speculation, or fan extrapolation.

What do we not know?

  • Release date — no date, no window. ConcernedApe has a track record of taking as long as it takes (1.6 took years)
  • Scope — the teased feature list is already similar in shape to 1.6 (social content + farm type + more), but nothing quantified
  • What changes for existing saves — 1.6 brought new farm types and festivals; 1.7’s new-marriage-candidate structure implies heavy town-content work

Who are Clint and Sandy?

Both are existing Pelican Town NPCs who were previously unmarriageable:

  • Clint — the blacksmith; famously pines after Emily. Making him marriageable is a major arc rewrite
  • Sandy — the Oasis shopkeeper in the Calico Desert; lives outside town and previously had almost no romance path

Adding them means new heart events, new schedules, new marriage dialogue, and new spouse rooms — the biggest single change a marriage-candidate update implies.

What’s the source trail?

The authoritative trail to follow:

  • ConcernedApe’s Bluesky/Twitter — primary announcements
  • The 10th-anniversary concert stream VOD — the 1.7 reveal itself
  • stardewvalleywiki.com — the community’s source-faithful changelog once 1.7 ships

This page will be updated when new official information drops — that’s the point of a living hub.

For how Stardew got here, see the full version history. If you’re planning around the new candidates, the current marriage pool is covered in the gift guide.

Frequently asked questions

When does Stardew Valley 1.7 come out? No date announced — ConcernedApe doesn’t do release windows until late in development.

Is 1.7 free? Yes — every Stardew update has been free since launch; there’s no paid-DLC model.

Will existing saves work in 1.7? Historically yes — 1.6 was save-compatible; there’s no reason to expect 1.7 to break that pattern.
