Best Crops in Stardew Valley: Profit-per-Season Guide (All Seasons)
The most profitable crop for Spring, Summer, Fall, and greenhouse — ranked by gold per day, with growth times, seed costs, and processing multipliers.
Profit isn’t just “sell price minus seed” — it’s gold per day per tile, and regrowth crops cheat the math by harvesting forever after one seed. Here’s the real leaderboard per season, then how processing changes everything.
What’s the best Spring crop?
Strawberry is the Spring king — but only if you buy seeds at the Egg Festival on Spring 13 and plant that night. Seeds cost 100g each, fruit sells 120g base, takes 8 days to first harvest, then regrows every 4 days. Planted festival night with no speed bonus you get 2 harvests (~140g profit per tile); any Speed-Gro pushes it to 3 harvests (~260g per tile).
Runner-ups: Rhubarb (13 days, 220g) and Cauliflower (12 days, 175g) for single-harvest plays, and Green Beans as a budget regrower (10 days to first harvest, then every 3 days).
What’s the best Summer crop?
Starfruit dominates — seeds are 400g from Sandy in the Desert, fruit sells 750g base in 13 days, and turning it into wine triples that (2,250g+). It’s the classic mid-game money printer.
No desert access yet? Blueberries (regrows every 4 days, 3 berries per harvest) and Melons are the best Pierre-side options. For Starfruit specifics, see the Starfruit guide.
What’s the best Fall crop?
Sweet Gem Berry is Fall’s jackpot: seeds (“Rare Seeds”) are 1,000g from the traveling cart, the berry takes 24 days to grow, and it sells for 3,000g base — it cannot be kegged or jarred, it’s a pure sell-harvest play. Cranberries are the reliable regrower: 240g seeds at Pierre’s, 75g berries, regrows every 5 days, pairs perfectly with a keg line.
What wins in the Greenhouse?
Ancient Fruit ends the debate — a regrowth crop that harvests every 7 days forever with no replanting cost. A greenhouse full of Ancient Fruit feeding kegs is the game’s signature infinite-money machine. Details in the Ancient Fruit guide.

Does processing change the ranking?
Kegs and preserves jars multiply everything:
- Keg: wine = 3× fruit base value; juice = 2.25× vegetable base value
- Preserves jar: jelly = 2× fruit base + 50g; pickles = 2× veg base + 50g
- Starfruit wine: 2,250g base — the single most profitable keg input in the game
- Ancient Fruit wine: 1,650g base and it regrows

Frequently asked questions
What is the most profitable crop overall? Starfruit through kegs for active farming; Ancient Fruit for set-and-forget greenhouse income.
Are regrowth crops worth it? Almost always — the per-day math punishes re-seeding. Blueberries, cranberries, and ancient fruit all beat same-season single-harvest crops over a full season.
What about giant crops? Cauliflower, melon, and pumpkin planted in 3×3 can merge into giants (no fertilizer needed) — a nice bonus, not a strategy.
